About

Monroe is a neighborhood shop filled with beautifully useful things. We celebrate simple, refined + collected beauty, and the joy of living in a space you love.

We carry a considered mix of the traditional, coastal, and bohemian, combined and reimagined for modern life. We understand city living, busy living, family living. And like many in New England, we have a soft spot for homes with a history.

Located in the heart of Boston’s oldest neighborhood, we are more than a store. We are an escape, a resource, a space for inspiration. Come shop, learn, or just say hi.

Meet Donna

Owner Donna Garlough is a former magazine editor, brand content creator, interior stylist, and the author of Your Home, Your Style: How to Find Your Look and Create Rooms You Love (Rizzoli, 2018). She has designed rooms for celebrities and styled ads; in previous lives she was a restaurant critic, travel writer, and beauty editor. Her work and words have appeared in Real Simple, Better Homes and Gardens, People magazine, AD and ElleDecor.com, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times. She is passionate about the stories you can tell through things, and her joy has always been finding and combining objects of delight.
